our statement of faith
Calvary Chapel of San Mateo has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our Supreme desire is to know Jesus and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their over emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the body of Christ. We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is His (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without it we have no right to call ourselves Christians.
We believe:
...In using verse by verse exposition of Scripture, we believe all of the Word of God to be inspired by God and 100% truth. And that the Old and New Testaments to be plenary, verbally inspired by God, inerrant in the original writings, and the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
...In missions locally and abroad with prayer, finances; and we are involved with many short term missionary teams, and sending long term missionaries to the field.
... evangelism flows naturally from the teaching of God's Word. We also seek to reach lost souls for Christ through evangelistic concerts and other outreach events.
...
the Godhead eternally exists in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three Persons are one God having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections.
...
In the Lord Jesus Christ, His incarnation by means of the Virgin Birth,
His eternal existence as God,
His death on the cross as the substitutionary atonement of sin,His literal, bodily resurrection from the dead,
His present ministry of intercession in heaven,
His personal return to earth.
...
the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, who convicts men of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals, and sets apart believers unto a holy life, that He keeps and empowers believers day by day, that He is the Teacher of the Word of God and the guide of our daily life.
...
natural man was created innocent and pure, that Adam fell through the sin of disobedience, Therefore all men are corrupted in body, mind, and spirit;
Therefore, all are in need of redemption.
...
In a pre-tribulation rapture of the church, In the personal, visible, bodily pre-millennial return of Jesus Christ to earth, In the bodily resurrection of the just to an eternal abode in His eternal glory, likewise in the bodily resurrection of the unjust to judgment and everlasting punishment in the Lake of Fire.
...
Salvation is by grace, a free gift of God apart from works, requires repentance - turning from your way to God's way, and that all who receive Him are regenerated, and become Children of God. Also that true salvation will be manifested by a changed life.

As the Church,
our desire is to mature in our understanding of who Christ
is, what He has done for us, and what He will do through us...
As such, we prescribe to the
four-point ministry found in
Acts 2:42...
"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers..."
It then continues in the extension of His love in us toward this lost and dying world; making us effective in reaching them with His gospel of love grace...
"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one
another." -John 13:35
"Grace and peace
be multiplied
to you"
